MEET Jonathan

Growing up with undiagnosed learning disabilities, Jonathan experienced firsthand the struggles of navigating an educational system that often overlooks students with unique needs. His personal challenges in school—combined with a deep desire to make a difference—shaped his passion for advocating for children and families who face similar obstacles.

After earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado, Jonathan sought a new challenge and decided to pursue law. Despite his earlier academic struggles, he excelled at Brooklyn Law School, graduating in the top 10% of his class. It was during this time that he discovered his love for education and his ability to connect with young people. This passion led him to join Legal Outreach, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering low-income students of color through legal education and college preparation. There, Jonathan found his calling: helping students unlock their potential and overcome systemic barriers.

Jonathan’s career path took him through various roles in education, including teaching legal studies at New York City public schools and developing curricula for underserved students. It was during his time at these schools that he witnessed a troubling pattern—bright, capable students with undiagnosed learning disabilities being passed from grade to grade without receiving the support they needed. This realization sparked his interest in special education law and his determination to advocate for children who had been left behind by the system.

After gaining valuable experience working with a nonprofit and later the Department of Education, Jonathan transitioned into private practice, where he honed his skills at several firms before launching his own. Today, he is a dedicated advocate for families seeking justice in the face of school district failures. Jonathan specializes in helping parents secure tuition reimbursement, compensatory services, and other critical resources to ensure their children receive the education they deserve.

Jonathan’s unique background as both an educator and attorney gives him a deep understanding of the challenges families face when navigating the complexities of special education law. His mission is clear: to fight for children who have been overlooked and to empower parents to hold school districts accountable. Whether it’s advocating for a child’s right to appropriate services or helping families secure funding for specialized education, Jonathan is committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of his clients.

When he’s not in the courtroom or meeting with families, Jonathan continues to draw inspiration from his own experiences and the resilience of the children he represents. His work is more than a career—it’s a personal mission to ensure that every child, regardless of their challenges, has the opportunity to thrive.
