Experienced Legal Counsel
Jonathan is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School. He was a litigator in a corporate law firm and for the New York State Attorney General’s Office. As a volunteer mentor for a high school student, Jonathan became interested in education and in working to end the “opportunity gap.” Jonathan switched careers and became an educator, teaching constitutional law and life skills in community-based organizations, the New York City Department of Education (“DOE”) public schools, and a New York City charter school. During that time Jonathan observed many students with special needs who were not receiving the appropriate services necessary to make progress. This motivated Jonathan to once again use his law degree to protect the educational rights of children by providing special education advocacy to parents.

How Jonathan Can Help You
Jonathan provides personalized and strategic legal guidance to parents of students with special needs throughout the special education process. Jonathan’s goal is to demystify the special education legal process and make it accessible to families who have traditionally been excluded due to the cost or lack of information about the process. Each child has unique learning and developmental needs, some of which cannot be met in a traditional public-school setting. Jonathan passionately advocates on behalf of parents of children with special needs to obtain funding from the New York City Department of Education for the cost of private school tuition and related services that will enable the student to make meaningful progress.
